Obama and Israel: The Bonds That Kill

advertisement

In an attempt to squelch rumors that he is pro-Palestinian, or god forbid Muslim, Barack Obama made it clear in the final Democratic Presidential debate on Tuesday that he is anything but. After being prodded by NBC's Tim Russert on the issue, Obama said he has long been a "stalwart friend of Israel's," believing the country to be one of the United States' "most important allies in the region," and even going as far as to call the security of Israel "sacrosanct."

The hallowed confirmation that he would maintain the US's lopsided support for Israel came the same day seven Palestinians were killed by Israeli air strikes in Gaza.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

This issue has already come back to bite Obama, as it did in Hillary, with her imperial support of the Iraq, war, the public is sick of the Fascist, and Zionist foreign policies that have roiled the Middle East, from Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Israel- Palestine, to Afghanistan. False hope, like false rhetoric, like phony debates, like phony democracies, that run away from class nationalism, in particular our support of Israel's war crimes and rogue state, reflects the generic rot of corporate imperialism, of Western class states, whether Amerikan Empire or Isreal.

I posted several seeds on Nader and Obama as it relates the failed policies of two class parties, two class ideologies, two imperial partners, and Nader destroyed Obama on this particular issue, especially, noting the hypocrisy, double standards. Of course most people ran from these seeds, as they know that Nader and now Frank are right, and are afraid to touch these issues, because many liberals are liberal war hawks, neocon Zionists, just as Bush's neocons are just as imperialist on the issue of its Empire and Israeli Zionist partners. Will the liberals finally address this issue, or will they once again remain silent??? The left has destroyed any credibility of class liberals, who pretend opposition to the Iraq war, but give back handed support to aggression through Israel, and thus appeases these proto fascists.

I wonder where Olbermann will stand, should this scenario occur. Will all of his heated anti war rhetoric collapse because Olbermann has been silent on this issue, and become the very appeaser he condemned the democratic party, as the party of "Neville Chamberlains" who appeased Hitler's fascism itself. (In fact Neville was only a representative, diplomat....of most Western corporate hacks who embraced Hitler's corporate fascism, so long as it was aimed at Stalin) Fascsism was accepted by many of the Western class elites, including Bush's grandfather. Appeasement of class nationalism, corporate fascism is the same appeasement of Zionism. It is not just the issue of a homeland, that designates no political construction. It is the class state and Western proto fascism, that designates Zionism itself.

Eric,

I'm hoping this is one of those false campaign promises that every, yes, every candidate makes simply to get elected.

"I think there is a strain within the pro-Israel community that says unless you adopt a unwavering pro-Likud approach to Israel that you're anti-Israel and that can't be the measure of our friendship with Israel."

This is actually true, and he's the closest of any candidate to say anything remotely that bold, that is to say, among republicans and democrats.

Hamid:

I will now vote for Nader. Obama is tied too much to the corporate and pro Israeli contributors, to ever change. There will no real change in the Middle East or Amerikan Empire. He is the new face of imperialism. White faces, as servile cogs in the machine, no longer work, that is why the ruling class has brought in these false divisions between gender and race, as the public is too stupid to notice. Obama and Hillary were corporate choices. Whoever wins, they win, the corporate and imperial agenda, Zionist agenda, and not the American public.
