U.S. policy is not about one individual, and no matter how much faith people place in President-elect Barack Obama...
And, frankly, when it comes to foreign policy, it is not looking good....his foreign policy team is now dominated by the hawkish, old-guard Democrats of the 1990s. "What happened to all this talk about change?"
Amid the euphoria over Obama's election and the end of the Bush era, Bill Clinton's boiled down to a one-two punch from the hidden hand of the free market, backed up by the iron fist of U.S. militarism. Clinton took office and almost immediately bombed Iraq (ostensibly in retaliation for an alleged plot by Saddam Hussein to assassinate former President George H.W. Bush). He presided over a ruthless regime of economic sanctions that killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and under the guise of the so-called No-Fly Zones in northern and southern Iraq, authorized the longest sustained U.S. bombing campaign since Vietnam.
we need change!!!!!
khlawake:
We need to confront the OBAMA regime even before they are sworn in. We must demand that he fire his whole NEOCON CABINET, AND DEMAND AN END TO FASCIST, ZIONIST FOREIGN POLICIES. We must also demand that OBAMA tell Biden to shut up about "foreign policy crisis" and that any effort to support a Bi Partisan attack against Iran will be met with a demand for a NATIONAL STRIKE to take down these imperialists.
I think more people are feeling the same way

Great analogy, scary picture, The Zombie corporate imperial agenda is George Bush as African American face.
We are getting change but in the wrong direction, I wanted to support Obama after he was elected but now I can not do to the people he is putting in the jobs, I see us going down even more. I also see that they will be giving amnesty to the 30 million or more illegal in this country. Now he want the Governor of Arizona to head Home Land Security yes a person who veto every bill that went again illegal.
Some day this country might fine a good person to become President but not in my life time. Everyone said one thing to get elected and never follow through or mean what they said would be done.
Interesting, Jeremy Scahill, was on DEMOCRACY NOW, and they were talking about this very article. Here is the link:
http://www.democracynow.org/2008/11/20/agents_of_change_or_hawks_clintonites
Corn was the typical wishy washy liberal while Scahill confronted Corn on the people who have an ugly history, imperial and corporate history. Scahill won hands down, Corn looked like the apologists, who does not want to know.
Endless delusions, endless excuses by Obama supporters. We just don't get it. Ideology, or the two class outlooks, class liberalism, class conservatives, both share the same imperial and corporate outlook from free market slavery to bloody imperial Empire. It is not about inividuals when all of them share the same fundamental failures, corruption, ideology, criminality inherent in all class systems since Patriarchy and class history began.
Corporate fascism and Late Capitalism determine the deformed ideology of both class parties. YOU WILL CONTINUE TO BE POWERLESS, by voting for these two call parties and their deformed ideologies, class ideologies. OBAMA is a puppet for Capitalist Empire, the black face of NEOCON POLICIES surrounded by Zionist thugs, NEOCON thugs, and liberal warhawks. Biden already told the public to prepare for a "crisis" within the first 6 months of OBAMA'S WARMONGERING INSIDERS. Israel will probably vote in the worst fascist, NETANYAHOO, and watch out for a BI PARTISAN FASCISM, ZIONIST policy, to attack Iran, Syria, Lebananon, .....fill in the blank. With fascists like these we get NO CHANGE.
I always said that Americans are clueless about ideology and keep voting for class ideology that enslaves them and bloodies them into Empire. When will we learn. NADER WAS RIGHT, THE LEFT WAS RIGHT, AND EVERYONE ELSE WAS WRONG.
I always said that Americans are clueless about ideology and keep voting for class ideology
Who else to vote for in the list? it,s either smirky face or masked face in the electorial machine . Any keen nominee who would show true concern over his country will be kicked out in the primaries , like Ron Paul
Nader was right?
Ralph Nader is an impotent, crusty old curmudgeon that exits the faculty lounge every four years to gripe about what the real candidates are saying on the real election trail.
Buddy, I would put a bullet in my brain right now if Ralph Nader were the newly elected leader of this nation.
Brian:
You still missed the point. It is not about Ralph Nader as an individual, it is about his social ideology. And by the way you don't need to do that suicide thing, American Empire and corporate fascism has already done that for the whole of the country.
Well, I guess that's it then, Eric.
Don't forget to turn the lights off on your way out.
Brian:
You still missed the point. Failure to look at ideology, and the corporate imperial insiders in OBAMA'S cabinet have already turned off the lights. Change did not happen, we are still in the dark, but then that is why you thought the lights were on.
Hey Eric.
Why don't you turn your phone back on and open up the drapes. It isn't the End of Days quite yet.
Obama has been in office, oh let's see, 0 days so far.
Brian;
You still refuse to see the essence of this article. The drapes are closed, not by me and yes, both Empire and Corporate markets are in crisis, and one does not have to wait til the policies begin, if the policy makers are already in place continuing the failed policies of Bush. Now could you respond to the particulars and the ideological connections to these corrupt insiders, or are you still running away from ideology, policies, and facts?
I love reading and listening to all the people criticizing Obama for picking all these old Clinton-era folks. "It's not change" - they yell.
Frankly, Clinton listened to that sort of talk when he first took office, and stumbled badly out of the starting blocks. Pres-Elect Obama has learned that lesson.
I'd rather he use "old" people and get things done his way, than have a cabinet full of people who didn't know their head from their ass. He will need people whom he can trust will get the job done without him having to keep interjecting him self into every negotiation.
Which is what would end up happening everytime a "rookie" went to meet with the Republicans trying to get something pushed through. So we'd have the people "changed" but not get any of the changes that would help us as citizens.
Which would you prefer?
Spoxlogic:
This is not about "experience" code word for continuing the same old imperial, fascist, policies. It is about Change that everyone is looking for, and so far they are getting Zombie Bush as an African face.
Then that is your own narrow sighten opionion based on you prejudgement, not proven facts or facts at all, as far as i m concerned if his chosen cabinet makes USA go into a surplous, creates jobs, reduces unemployement to history minimum and everything good, you will say "well he did it without a specific percepted method of change you thought you sunscribed to" (though your opinion as a whole is laughabel because you shouldn;t expect anything from him since you predicted these way before you DID NOT vote for him).
Not narrow, Picaso, just different. OUr ability to think independently has been how we have maintained our freedoms, through our differences. But we are being homonogenized. I wish you weren't so (in my opinion) angry. And I would offer that listening to JFK's last speech might bring some balance for you. At least in the importance of positive interchange of ideas and insights.
I voted for him too. But I ahve to accpet that with each choice that is 'announced' we are getting farther and farther from what he said he wanted to accomplish. THe patriot act needs to be gone, how is that going to happen given who he has appointed from Arizona? I need to understand that.
arrg typos! makes me feel stupid... Anyways thanks for the insight KLconsiders, I guess this whole left vs right tuff has just made me loose focus.
I fight it all the time..........we are surrounded by the party bull@!$%# that divides us.
Can't blame masses for learning lesson's well, it has taken me 5 years to get where i am. And honestly?............It has been in the last week that it has all cleared up for me, that I have been able to throw off the education I have recieved. I was hanging on to the eloquent message of his "change" message, but it was going back to JFK's last speech that renewed and altered the direction of my thinking. I am now trying to regain my own hope and ithat is in the american citizens who are patient and thourough communicators. Those who can bring those you refer to as zombies into the understanding what they are afraid of, and what they REALLY need to be concerned about.
I am no longer afraid, and I believe I have made a mistake in identifying with the wrong element of his message during the campaign. But, I am lucky........I have always questioned intentions and it is the only thing that saves me from continued bamboozlement!
unless he has a very subversive agenda, that no one is attuned to, he is going down the same path as we just walked. And we are near crawling now...........
KL:
Yes,we do really need to look at history, ideology, policies, terminology to get a grip on the failures of class history, since Patriarchy, right up to today's Late Capitalism, corporate fascist Empire and stop voting for appearances, but change the way we interact with this crippled class process, instead of voting every 4 to 8 years.
We need fundamental social change to save both Mother Nature and ourselves.
I have just one simple Marker to look for and hope to see come from Obama.
If he selects Ron Paul to serve in his administration, my candle power will increase 100-fold
