We are all Gazans

advertisement

My eyes are red from crying as I write this.
The images of bloody babies and maimed children and mothers and fathers wailing in pain are too much for me to bear!
Today, the defense forces of Yahweh's "Chosen People" bombed two UN refugee centers. The schools, which Israel knew were being used as refugee centers (the UN was idiotic enough to give the GPS coordinates?) were demolished, dozens of innocent Gazans killed and Israel makes the convenient claim that Hamas was using the playgrounds as rocket-launching pads, which has been denied by the UN.
Mr. "One President at a Time" famously said: "I am not against war, I am against dumb wars." Even though he has resisted commenting on the horror being perpetrated in Gaza right now, we know what side he is going to weigh in on, as when he was in Jerusalem in July, 2008 and told Israeli president Shimon Peres: "For most of Israel's 60 years, you have been deeply involved in this miracle that has blossomed," and while in Sderot, in Southern Israel, which is, as most of Israel is, built on Palestinian land, he affirmed Israel's right to defend itself from the very weak Hamas rockets. Memo to Mr. "Only One President at a Time," we know you love Israel and get that you long ago sold out to the American-Israel Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the US/Israel imperial-military cabal, but no Palestinian baby has fired rockets from Gaza.
I am here to tell Obama, that war is not dumb: IT'S EVIL! All war is evil.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

If the Palestinians and Arabs would lay down their arms tomorrow, the fighting would stop with Israel.  If Israel laid down its arms tomorrow, it would "driven into the sea."

How is there moral equivalency in your mind here?

Sorry, I went to public schools, so you're gonna have to type down to my level.

What lie?

Let's do an exercise here to see if you have any connection with reality at all....In this most current case, can you at least have the intellectual honesty to acknowledge that had Hamas not been firing rocekts every day into Israel (arbitrarily, I might add, with no hopes of hitting military targets, only civilian ones), there would have been no ground invasion or dead innocent Palestinians?  Give me that at least.

If you want to discuss the history of the situation, I'm game for that.  But if you arent willing to concede that Hamas (elected by these same Palestinians in Gaza) is the actual reason there has been military action taken in the past few weeks on the part of Israel, then you'd be better off using your rhetorical genius on some wiser, angrier Newsvine participant.

Is there any truth to this?

In January a couple stories broke that US development assistance was going to fund Hamas weapons and propaganda In March a Washington Times investigation uncovered that almost $150,000 of US assistance had gone directly to a single Hamas institution. In April it was revealed that the State Department had deliberately suspended their review processs they could circumvent US anti-terrorism laws and keep funding terrorists (seriously!). Now it turns out - shockingly - that the State Department may be funding Palestinian terrorists:

My eyes are also red and full of tears as I watch the videos of the dead and maimed across this world of violence imposed by murder. Children tattered and torn holding the hands of their dead loved ones...usually children under the age of 10 with tears and expressions of pain and emptiness running down their precious cheeks.

Children! Innocent children. Not casualties of war. Murder. Not collateral damage!Deliberate acts of murder. Not being used as shields!Daycares and Hospitals.Bombed!

Iraq,Somalia,Bosnia,Afghanistan....South Africa,Chile,Brazil....the USA,Mexico...the list goes on and on.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7065205277695921912 at minute 52:16 shows the children.52:18 shows the beautiful little girl with her hands raised in submission and the terror and grief on her face. She might only be 8 yrs old.

I look at this image often. It breaks my heart everytime.  Overwhelming grief.

An injustice is paid with an injustice. Those images are coming to an America near you.

The images will be basically the same...with different faces. Our children.

Unless,we realize the truth of murder. And stop it.

If you who are evil know how to give good things to your children, how much more will the Father give...peace to those that ask.And why.

All for profit.Profitting off the suffering and murder of humanity. Only one has this agenda.

Woe to those who call good evil and evil good.

You couldnt be more wrong, TL3.  As if loving humanity and hating inhumanity were inconsistent.  Other wars you might be able to even say such rubbish, but in the case of the Hamas-Israeli conflict the reason for the fighting today is one side's doing, not both. Every child's death is a tragedy, but it is one that in the case of Hamas will be on their hands.

I guess your not as insightful enough to know that this was not referrring to humanity,JLP. So make yourself complicit by rationalization. All these deaths are murder.Every single human life lost to violence at anothers hand is murder.

Self-preservation? Self-preservation would dictate that viable alternatives would be compiled.Self - defense?

Self Defense would indicate that any action taken would not come back and traumatize their children. Defend your children with wisdom and foresight. Through knowledge, compassion and mercy.

These soldiers are only taking orders. Inform them as to their culpability through knowledge of the truth of this war and they will all stand down and do the right thing.

Which is to live. Freely. Under no domination through mammon, ignorance and exclusivity.

Profit from blood? Suffering?

And JLP,what rubbish? And where am I wrong? Facts. Give me facts and not your propaganda.

I have this proof that this is coming to an American city near you at the hands of ,not Muslims...but self-described intellectual elitists bankers.

Find the true antagonists on both sides that promote and provocate this violence and put them to trial. Facts and evidence is available.

Oh, you poor distressed soul ... who for someone so sensitive seems surprisingly un-outraged by the racism of Hamas, by their calls for Jews everywhere to be killed, by the cowardly tactics of Hamas fighters who deliberately draw fire on their own women and children to cynically bring about the results which bring the tears to your eyes.

Now that really does upset me to the core, that anyone could abuse their own people's lives in such a callous way in pursuit of their fanatical religious goals.  That really is something worthy of an outcry.

I guess I must write it again...Jews,Zionists and Israel are 3 different animals. Now they each carry people in common,at times, but is only a few men from the government of Israel who control the masses. Many entitling themselves with "Zionists" have dishonored and blemished this word changing the context of the word for their own benefit.

Those who are called "jew" are so -called due to their ethnicity and race or religion.

Now how many people in that region are considered Semites. Not just Jews are semitic.

Well...I guess you just don't know,DMW, that Hamas and Mossad have a very close personal history(hand in hand)...associated with the CIA. As did the freedom fighters in Afghanistan.

Al qaeda? Computer Data Base name for said fighters.Economic hitmen?

Understand why it is so profitable for Afghans to grow opium. It's not.Only the sellers of Heroin .Enslavement by debt and addiction. Our own people. By a few so called, self described(David RockerfellerSr,Jr., Paul Warburg...Rothchilds...) "Intellectual Elitists"

The economic hit man,(25:10 Zeitgeist Addendum),  "There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt."John Adams.

An economic hitman,John Perkins ( former chief economist ,author of "Confessions of an Economic Hitman"in Zeitgeist ,also),describes in detail how and why this is done. Including Iraq. And relevant to this seed, Afghanistan.

"The true terrorists of our world, do not meet at the docks at midnight or scream “Allah Akbar” before some violent action. The true terrorists of our world, wear 5000 dollar suits, and work in the highest positions of finance, government and business."(51:40)

http://www.wanderingsandmusings.com/2008/10/zeitgeist-addendum-transcript

(52:04)"How do we stop this aberrant group behavior, which feels no compassion for say, the millions slaughtered in Iraq and Afghanistan, so the Corporatocracy can control energy resources and opium production for Wall St. profit?"
[/Peter Joseph]

“Before 1980, Afghanistan produced 0% of the world’s opium.
After the US/CIA backed Mujahadeen won the Soviet/Afghan war. by 1986 they were producing 40% of the world’s heroin supply.
By 1999, they were producing 80% of the total market supply.
But then, something unexpected happened.
The Taliban rose to power, and by 2000 they had destroyed most of the opium fields.
Production dropped from 3.000+ tons to only 185 tons, a 94% reduction.
On Sept. 9th 2001, the full Afghanistan invasion plans were on President Bush’s Desk
Two days later they had their excuse
Today, opium productions in US controlled Afghanistan,
which now provides more than 90% of the world’s heroin, breaks new production records nearly every year.” - Source Washington Post and UNODC Report

google it.

This isn’t to be confused with the fictional ‘Al Qaida’, which as actually the name of a computer database of the U.S.-supported Mujahadeen in the 1980’s.

"The truth is,there is no Islamic Army or group called Al Qaida. And any informed intelligence officer knows this. But there is a propaganda campaign to make  the public believe in the presence of an identified entity...the country behind this propaganda is the US."  Robin Cook, former British Foreign Secretary.(49:32)

The Muslims believe that God will descend on Jerusalem on  black cloud and Jesus will judge the dead.

You play your role in this drama of revelations...I'm going to pray that you use the knowledge available to us to understand the history and culture Revelation's was written in (Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD fulfilling the words Jesus spoke). The Diaspora.

The return to Palestine in the years just prior to 1948.

The doctrine of the Rapture is also a distortion of a vision a young girl had in the 19th century...then promoted by a certain man. This is selective and exclusive  doctrines and dictates issued by arrogant intellectual (self professed)elitists.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapture

The rise in belief in the "Pre-Tribulation" rapture is sometimes attributed to a 15-year old Scottish-Irish girl named Margaret McDonald (a follower of Edward Irving), who in 1830 had a vision that was later[10] published in 1861.

The popularization of the term is associated with the teaching of John Nelson Darby, prominent among the Plymouth Brethren, and the rise of premillennialism and dispensationalism in English-speaking churches at the end of the 19th century. In 1908, the doctrine of the rapture was further popularized by an evangelist named William Eugene Blackstone, whose book, Jesus is Coming, sold more than one million copies. The first known theological use of the word "rapture" in print occurs with the Scofield Reference Bible of 1909.[11]

In 1957, John Walvoord, a theologian at Dallas Theological Seminary, authored a book,The Rapture Question, that gave theological support to the Pre-Tribulation rapture; this book eventually sold over 65,000 copies. In 1958, J. Dwight Pentecost authored another book supporting the Pre-Tribulation rapture, Things to Come: A Study in Biblical Eschatology, which sold 215,000 copies.

    http://www.apostasynow.com/topics/trib/pretrib08.html

"The ever increasing controversy over the origins of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture Doctrine has spawned a thousand lies and slanders from those who oppose this doctrine. Almost the chief and most common of these lies is that John Nelson Darby, who is closely associated with the popularizing of this doctrine, obtained this doctrine from a 15 year old girl named Margaret McDonald. Below is the record of Ms. McDonald's actual vision."

MARGARET'S REVELATION "It was first the awful state of the land that was pressed upon me. I saw the blindness and infatuation of the people to be very great. I felt the cry of Liberty just to be the hiss of the serpent, to drown them in perdition. It was just 'no God.' I repeated the words, Now there is distress of nations, with perplexity, the seas and the waves roaring, men's hearts failing them for fear. Now look out for the sign of the Son of Man. Here I was made to stop and cry out, O it is not known what the sign of the Son of Man is; the people of God think they are waiting, but they know not what it is.

    Very good, grashopper tool.

    Ezekiel
    Chapter 37

    1
1 The hand of the LORD came upon me, and he led me out in the spirit of the LORD and set me in the center of the plain, which was now filled with bones.
    2
He made me walk among them in every direction so that I saw how many they were on the surface of the plain. How dry they were!
    3
He asked me: Son of man, can these bones come to life? "Lord GOD," I answered, "you alone know that."
    4
Then he said to me: Prophesy over these bones, and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!
    5
Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: See! I will bring spirit into you, that you may come to life.
    6
I will put sinews upon you, make flesh grow over you, cover you with skin, and put spirit in you so that you may come to life and know that I am the LORD.
    7
I prophesied as I had been told, and even as I was prophesying I heard a noise; it was a rattling as the bones came together, bone joining bone.
    8
I saw the sinews and the flesh come upon them, and the skin cover them, but there was no spirit in them.
    9
Then he said to me: Prophesy to the spirit, prophesy, son of man, and say to the spirit: Thus says the Lord GOD: From the four winds come, O spirit, and breathe into these slain that they may come to life.
    10
I prophesied as he told me, and the spirit came into them; they came alive and stood upright, a vast army.
    11
Then he said to me: Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They have been saying, "Our bones are dried up, our hope is lost, and we are cut off."
    12
Therefore, prophesy and say to them: Thus says the Lord GOD: O my people, I will open your graves and have you rise from them, and bring you back to the land of Israel.
    13
Then you shall know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and have you rise from them, O my people!
    14
I will put my spirit in you that you may live, and I will settle you upon your land; thus you shall know that I am the LORD. I have promised, and I will do it, says the LORD.

    January 15, 2009

Thursday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

    Reading 1
    Heb 3:7-14

    The Holy Spirit says:
Oh, that today you would hear his voice,
“Harden not your hearts as at the rebellion
in the day of testing in the desert,
where your ancestors tested and tried me
and saw my works for forty years.
Because of this I was provoked with that generation
and I said, ‘They have always been of erring heart,
and they do not know my ways.’
As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter into my rest.’
    Take care, brothers and sisters,
that none of you may have an evil and unfaithful heart,
so as to forsake the living God.
Encourage yourselves daily while it is still “today,”
so that none of you may grow hardened by the deceit of sin.
We have become partners of Christ
if only we hold the beginning of the reality firm until the end

Anti-semitism rose out of a nineteenth century belief that Semites are somehow inferior to Aryans. The warped anti-semitist thinking led to Hitler's treatment of the Jews of Europe. To use it to label somebody who is critical of the current Zionist warmongering state and its corrupt election campaign cheapens the term and waters down its impact when it is used correctly.

We need to help! We need to allow Gaza to have food and safety. We need to protect them by showing them they do not have send rockets for the world to hear their cries. Israel does not necessarily need protection at this time, they have not lost so many that they need our help, but if they did then we should help them too, for the sake of humanity.

No military is going to just attack a school just for no reason.  If you have ever been in the military perticularly militaries styled like the U.S. or Israeli military.  They don't just lob missiles and bombs about willy nilly.  This is the thing when it comes to any air strike or artillary attack, rounds are EXPENSIVE.  Each one actually cost more than the last one shot.  They have a finite supply of them so there is always a forward observer giving a report on what he has seen.  Then the report is usually confirmed by another intellegence source.  Then they bombard only after they make sure that the weapons or ememy combatants are in the place they called for to be attacked.  If they used a school for launching missles that's unfortunate.  My question is what would you have Israel do in that case, just sit there being attacked and say well we can't keep from being attacked because the place they are attacking from is a school?

    Eric,

Disproven by who?  If that were even remotely trie the leaders of Israel at the time would be on trial for war crimes.  You see Israel and western governments have to follow rules.  If rules are broken then justice moves pretty swiftly.  The fact is that in the rules of war if you are using a civilian area for military operations it's no longer off limits.  I want to see this info about clearly marked UN centers in Lebonon too.  I can mark UN on top of my house but that doesen't make it under UN rule.

Gazans are a large population compressed into a very small area with no exit.

Egypt is unsympathetic to Hamas and Gazans, and have sealed them off.

Israel has sealed off Gaza due to Hamas' goal to destroy them.

Israel has currently crossed the border to kill Gazans in an effort to convince Gazans to stop sending rockets into Israel.

We know (simplistically) what the problem is, but WHERE is the solution? I agree! War is stupid! And innocent people always get killed in stupid wars.  WHERE is the solution?

You acknowledge that Israel willingly pulled out as a sign of good faith, yet it does not seem to carry any weight with you in terms of accepting the fact Israeli policy on the whole here in this conflict with Hamas migth not be the evil you think it is.   Why is that?  Every cease-fire has been broken by Palestinians.  Is that not worth considering in the grand scheme of how things might ever get better over there?

My solution: acceptance of what can and cannot be accomplished, and what the situation is currently, followed by negotiations.

Israel isn't going to move or be wiped off the map. Palestinians need to accept this.

Palestinians have been couped up for sixty years in refugee camps with no opportunities to move on with life. Israelis need to understand this. So do supposedly sympathetic countries, who as much as they might sympathize, would rather keep Palestinians in camps for sixty years than let them integrate into another society...

Once we get past those obstacles, it comes down to a price.

This just comes from a man who would rather think of the future than dwell on the past.

    Steve-

You are basically right.  I would say though that every effort has been made to provide relief and aid to the people of Gaza.  The West Bank has curtailed its terrorist activities and have a growing economy currently.  Palestinians have so much to offer the world.  They are the most educated and could turn their passion and wisdom into prosperous lives for current and future generations.  Israel has shown they are aboslutely willing to negotiate and work with them.  It has been COMPLETELY one-sided in who is desiring peace.  The day after the retaliation attacks by Israel began they sent relief aid into Gaza.  The US is willing to help Gaza.

You say you want to look to the future, but perhaps that is just what is wrong...those who fail to learn from the past will have a perpetually doomed future.  For Israel to forget about more than a dozen broken cease-fire agreements is madness.  You wouldnt do that if your next-door neighbor had shot at you 12 times and each time promised not to.  You would want to live in peace with that neighbor, but its more important that you dont get yourself shot than you show liberals in the West how benevolent you are.

Cyrano, John Locke pants, Psimon...when all Zionist aplogists make the same false assumptions with each other, you get the same false conclusions.  Ending Occupation is not enough, as Zionism is based on expansion, where breaking ceasefires, and provocations are routine.

Israel has to reconstruct its political state, Zionist state, in the same way Nazi Germany had to throw off its military state, in the same way American Empire will have to dismantle its imperial state to get real peace.

Comparing us to Nazi's huh...which Arab leader spent his days during World War II in Nazi Germany, praising the "work" being done concerning the "Jewish problem"?  The Grand Mufti.

What about pulling out of Gaza was expansionary?  And of all the people in Israel to make that happen, was it not the great "Zionist war criminal" Ariel Sharon who made that happen?

Don't get me wrong on this JLP: I think the onus is on Hamas currently by the following reasoning:

If Hamas is peacible and the Israelis are peacible, negotiations can begin.

If Hamas is peacible and Israel still desires to starve them and deny them aid because they are simply mean Zionists: they have access to a weapon greater than any military might they could bring to bear on the situation: shame. Get reporters in there, write daily blogs, etc. Shame worked for civil rights across the globe. I suspect it can work here as well, and much more effectively than a few dozen home made rockets.

If Hamas is not peacible and Israel is not peacible, then you're screwed regardless.

If Hamas is not peacible and Israel is peacible, Israel is still going to defend itself.

How is Israel not peacible in this situation?  Because there are SOME Jews who hate and want to kill Palestinians?  The Israeli govt has gone above and beyond to make peace and keep to it.  Terrorism is the problem.  Cowards who believe "so much" in their cause that they wear masks when on camera and chanting "death to Israel" but as soon as their fellow Palestinians are blown up in a bomb dropped on a rocket cache (that Israel called ahead and warned would be coming so the innocent deaths would be avoidable) that they had stored in an apartment building, they take off their masks and weep for the CNN reporters.  All death is a tragedy.  We get that.  ISrael gets that.  But who weeps for the never-ending, relentless barrage of rockets and suicide bombers Israel has had to deal with for decades?  We wouldnt be able to take that in America.  WE're not strong enough I fear.  But we would be completely in the right if Mexican terrorists were shooting rockets into San Diego and responded as Israel has.  THAT there can be NO debate about and must be internalized.

I'm not trying to say whether Israel is peacible or not. I'm showing that by my line of reasoning, the Gazan's only way out is peace, regardless of whether Israel is peacible.

Steve: I would also note that I would never *forget* the past. I just wouldn't dwell on it and let it consume me.

As I stated above, that's they key to resolving any conflict: moving forwards towards resolution without payback (history) as part of the equation.

Learning from history, obviously, is important, but without fresh thinking and a genuine interest from all parties to resolve disputes, all conflict is doomed to continue.

If we could erase the history component from other conflicts (Iraq, Afghanistan), solutions could be found since erasing "history" would effectively erase ideology.

Eric Albert is right in that ideology is a key component which gives us our sense of "history" and is the key force behind conflict.

I also find it impossible to take Albert's position while wishing for a more immediate resolution, since What we would do is change our ideology while not demanding the same of the radicalized (Arab fundamentalist) elements who are currently determined to destroy us. Also not taken into account is that these radicalized people are woefully undereducated; thus they, even more than we, act more on emotion (ideology) rather than reason.

My hope is that Obama will make a fundamental effort to try to help our country become a member nation of the world community rather than imperialist in charge. This shift would have to be gradual in order for mutual trust to develop. (history, ideology, weighed against "changing" behavior)

some of my other post this week, many which were collapsed by the community:

      • I spent the weekend reading "The Israel Lobby" by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt. I now realize that American Tax dollars are funding this blood shed for Israel. I could talk on and on about the corruption in America that allows Israel to do this to innocent people (what I think is innocent may not be in your eyes). Before reading this book I felt my heart lean towards Israel, I no longer think this way a fear what is to come. Just, the "lump sum" Israel receives from us is shocking and creates fears in me that I would never have known existed. I'm only part way through the book, its really hard to read because every sentence makes my heart pound in disbelief.

I dont understand why IMO Isreal is out to take over the world.

      • roadlesstraveled Comment collapsed by the community

^well how about we starve you. Then tell the media you were attacking us...who will the world believe when they see you throwing yourself at us with weapons?

(weapons you made because your child is starving and its all the strength you have to stand up for yourself)

      • roadlesstraveled

Dont listen to those below. This is sickening. Those of us who see this as it truly is, are deeply moved by those pictures (with tears, as if they were my own children). We do care, we do love, but you would not know it by some of those who do not truly understand what this "fight" is all about, and most wont get it until its there family laying there. May God be with the Palestinians! I have but little breath left to try to get people to understand today, but I make it my duty.......from this day forward.

The body count and vast disproportion of weapons, technology, and killing make me ashamed to acknowledge that my government supplies so much of Israel’s weaponry and ashamed to be a Jew, even as I fear for the future of the people I was born to.  Present day Israel seems to have forgotten the words God spoke through the old prophet Ezekiel (Ezekiel 12:19,20):

      A wake up call

Since the U.S, is the world’s largest arms dealer, we can press U.S. makers and vendors of high-tech weapons to stop this flow that feeds the Israeli military violence.

The essential work of peace will begin in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. But each of us, and our governments, must help rather than toy with them for our own geo-political purposes.  We cannot close our eyes or turn away.

We, as U.S citizens gain nothing out of our gov. selling arms. We, must beg and plead to our gov to stop sending weapons that kill, to countries that are grossly irresponsible with our name and our materials, and to stop using U.S. as backing to kill people; they are destroying our morals, our values, and our place on this planet.

But my point to adding these here, it that, our congressmen and folks are "captured" by the AIPCA and those who oppose it are out numbered. And that not one single politician who is against AIPAC keeps his position, and its  secret requirement of anyone obtaining an office even a Presidential position has to be in-favor of the AIPAC or they will not get the position or seat....that AIPAC controls our government, our media, and our conscience.

Israel calls ahead before they bomb a site to allow women and childrent and non-combatants to leave.  This is a fact.  They dropped leaflets in Southern Lebanon before bombing in 2006.  But this seems to leave no impression on you KL, or any other self-loathing liberal Westerner.  Israel is not perfect.  Civilians die in Gaza, this is true.  But like all liberal solutions and condemnations, the ROOT of the problem, the REAL CAUSE of the problem, is put aside in favor of emotional responses to the periphereal results.

Hamas is who the Palestinians elected.  Hamas is who attacks Israel.  The lives of any child or innocent lost is tragic.  No one disagrees.  If this was the first or even 7th time this had happened exactly the same way it might still be unclear about the way to stop the fighting.  But by now, any sane adult who cannot see that if Hamas stopped shooting rockets, people would stop dying on both sides of the border, then you never wanted to see the truth to begin with and at the 80th time of a conflict like this you'll still be blaming Israel.

Cursing helps your arguments.  Trust me.

It is abundantly clear now that you simply do not know the history of this conflict, which has been going on in one form or another since the time of Israel's return to the Promise Land after being freed from Egypt.  I'm shocked that someone with your vocabulary and penchant for the truth would not be aware of the thousands of years these two people-groups have been fighting. (And actually, many of them do come from the same bloodline of Abraham (through Ishmael) and Jacob (through Esau).

I did hope you knew a little about the past 100 years at least and how Jews simply moved back to the region known as Palestine and bought up unused, unwanted land and began settling/farming/building economies that the Palestinians originally particiapted in. You and the Palestinians might not like the 1948 partition, but the fact remains that there were at that point more than enough Jews in the land and more than enough hatred from the Arabs to warrant a two-state solution.  Israel's first act in 1948 was to reach out to their Palestinian neighbors and offer peace and co-existence....the Arabs amassed a 5-army annihilation squad and set out to drive Israel into the sea.  America provided none of the guns or support in that war for independence, but the Jews won on their own.  In proceeding wars (Six Day, for example) they claimed new land that they eventually GAVE BACK, even after being attacked.  They've signed peace treaty after peace treaty.  They've given relief aid and millions of dollars to help the Palestinian children and women who arent responsible for the evilness of their fathers and husbands.  Every time...EVERY time Israel is attacked anew.

Sure they have had help from America...we do that with democracies who promote freedom.  The only place where Arabs vote in free elections and have civil rights in the entire Middle East is Israel.

But none of this matters to you and will be dismissed.  I admit this is a brief and non-exhaustive overview of some key points in this conflict.  The truth will set you free, but at least shoot for good manners, Mars.

It is abundantly clear now that you simply do not know the history of this conflict, which has been going on in one form or another since the time of Israel's return to the Promise Land after being freed from Egypt.

In which Israel had to invade and conquer the Canaanites in order to "claim" the "Promised Land" which was "promised" to them by an imaginary figure in the sky. It doesn't seem like they had a birthright to it then, so why do they now? Oh yeah, because God said so, how cute.

Sure they have had help from America...we do that with democracies who promote freedom.

And nations we need to exist in order to "fulfill" Biblical phrophecies that our delusional citizens believe must happen in order for Jesus to return and take his sheep to heaven.

The truth will set you free, but at least shoot for good manners, Mars.

I couldn't care less about manners when discussing an issue like this. Nothing about this topic depends on me being kind to you, that is your personal preference, and I couldn't care less.

If you gave a shoot (see how I didn't use words that make you cringe) about manners, you would realize that your opinion is an opinion, and not truth. Yet you want this discussion to be had on the terms of you being right, and any other viewpoint being wrong. This isn't church, so don't expect to come here and have your delusions validated.

All war is evil huh?  Tell that to my grandpa and over a million other soldiers that stopped Nazi Germany and Communist Japan from murdering millions of people.  You leftists are so stuck in the mindset that all war is bad.  War that destroys evil to protect good is necessary and a must to further the idea of liberty.  But, this is the same line of thinking that leads you to believe that "we are all Gazans".  I AM NOT A GAZAN.  I don't strap bombs to myself, fund terror, destroy an economic and agricultural infrastructure, and proclaim my neighbor nation needs to be erased from the map.

The liberal ideal of moral relevance and all ways of life being equal is insanity and leads to the demise and eventual death of liberty and freedom.  Hamas routinely hides behind its civilians...a well documented fact of all conflict encounters over there for this EXACT reason.  So soft, left wing, useful idiots will show "compassion" and "sympathy" towards their cause.  Wake up and see what's really going on here.  Gaza's own Arab neighbor (Egypt) doesn't even want these loons running around in their country.

Don't you people get it?  Radical Islam/Hamas doesn't want peace or liberty.  They want submission and the extinction of people unlike them.  I feel terrible for the citizens who were killed, but it is the fault of their own military.  A military's NUMBER ONE responsibility is to ensure the safety of its citizens.  I don't think using their civilians as a shield and using them to get the New York Times sympathy is what the military is called to do.

Do us a favour and stop stereotyping the innocents of Gaza based on the actions of a few. If they all strapped bombs to themselves they wouldn't be there would they?

No abe don't YOU get it? Zionism is racist and they don't want no stinkin Arabs--from the start--that was their plan-get rid of the Arabs. And don't go all military family on me. Every generation of my family has fought in every stinkin war.

They need other countries to back them or else they WOULD just wipe them away--hence they need to play PR games and manipulate opinion carefully , least the have another Qana fiasco.

They have sure bulldozed plenty away--including the living--so they do not have anything but race hatred going for them which sadly we pay for as Americans who are not eligible to be Israeli citizens unless we are Jewish.

We have heard how our sec of state to be's dad speaks about the Arab civillians. No excuses anymore.

That's disgusting and that shows there hate plus Hezbollah sucks. Your comment about the killers of school children falls deaf on these ears Hamas always uses the populace for there own ends be it mosques or lets say ambulances, schools and hospitals they teach there children to hate at like 2 years old instead of letting them be children. A side note the (Arab-Israeli Conflict) the Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost.  Israel defended itself each time and won. The juiciest is the Nationhood and Jerusalem. Israel became a nation in 1312 BCE, Two thousand years before the rise of Islam and Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BCE, the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years. Did you see militants inside schools and hospitals by eyes ?     UN spokes denied completely the presence of any militants inside or outside UN school....... so this assumption is the cheap excuse Israel used to offer to hide its crime of targeting the crowded places like schools and hospitals to ensure achieving the highest casualties and in targeting ambulances to guranttee that the wounded will die

I didn,t see a one militant among killed on TV after the third day of raids 'after killing Hamas leader''  all I see allover the last 48 hours are shredded mutilated kids .....So it,s all about the opportunity Israel grabbed to kill the largest number of Palestinians

Sympathizers:  Answer one question please.  You all seem to ignore this fact.  Why was Hamas lobbing missiles into Israel on a daily basis and sending suicide bombers into Israel for years after Israel left Gaza?  Isn't it stupid to keep poking a lion?  There is no hope of a military victory over Israel.  Sixty years of Arab military failure has provedthat. No good could come to the "Palestinians" from poking a lion.  We all know that Hamas simply does not accept the existence of Israel because they have said it many times.  So what is the answer to my question?  It is simple.  The leaders of Hamas are hopeless anti-Semites in the age-old tradition of Islam.  If the "Palestinians" (there is no such people ethnically or as members of any historic state) really want peace and dignity they will reject these radicals and come into the twenty-first century.  Land disputes can be settled if one side does not insist on the annihilation of the other.  This stupid anti-Semitismis simply a relic of a bygone era.   When the smoke clears, maybe the civilians will realize that it was Hamas, not Israel that was the source of their grief.  I hope it ends soon, but Israel hasn't got much choice as long as Hamas is sworn to its destruction and in control of Gaza.  One thing is certain.  The rockets will taper off and stop just as they did after Israel bloodied the nose of Hezbollah.  That's all terrorists understand, overwhelming force.

The real tragedy is that had the Arabs accepted Israel 60 years ago or within a reasonable time thereafter, the region could be a garden of prosperity by now.  The Israelis are smart, scientific, and productive.  Working together the people of the region could have made amazing progress.  Instead the Arabs have kept their people preoccupied with hatred and self-defeating belligerence toward Israel largely, I suspect, as a distraction from their own regimes' failures.

Zionist and their apologists consistently use their cynical process of occupation and apartheid to set up useless rocket responses, that are then used to commit genocide against its victims. Stop the OCCUPATION, END THE EXPANSIONIST ZIONIST STATE OF ISRAEL and then you would not have to worry about the slaves revolting against the slave masters of Imperial states.

It is on topic This conflict will continue long after we are all dead and gone its there mentality.. I have a friend who is a Palestinian who is living in the US and said it to me long time ago The HATE is extreme and when he lived in palastine with his parents they would be forced and harassed by the extremist elements or face death. His parents left to give him a fresh chance at a descent life.. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory.  Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own people's lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey. I don't like to see children being killed I mean come on that's horrible but I know that those hamas bastards use the populace for there own sick means.

                Eric Albert:

You have any original thoughts or do you just marginalize other people's thoughts.  Maybe you should go work for MSNBC.  The fact is that political negotiations have been going on for 60 years and the authority in charge of Palestine violates them every time.  So, Israel is left with one option...military response to show Palestine that Israel is not going to tolerate the violations Palestine makes.

You don't get it.  These people (Hamas) don't care about your political talks or your social solutions or your bilateral talks to reach a resolution.  These people are violent and laugh at the weakness of nations who respond with talks to rocket attacks.  As long as you let feelings and emotions dominate your foreign policy and what you think would be great in some Eutopia you have conjured up in your brain; you will never realize the true problem and the only way to combat it.  Hamas doesn't want peace and negotiation, they want Israel erased.  It's a simple equation.

Come up with a peaceful, bilateral, universal, multicultural, loving, caring, peaceful solution that will work and post it or please do not write another thing on here.

By the way, Palestine could have had their own land with an economic and agricultural infrastructure in place (put there by Israel) if they just stopped violating the peace treaties with Israel that were negotiated.  Every Israel response is to a Palestinian violation.  Israel should be able to defend itself.  Maybe the people of Gaza should wake up and elect a non-terrorist government.  Lots of problems would be solved if there weren't people in power whose goal is to eliminate Israel.  Israel occupies no part of Gaza and removed ALL of its citizens form there to appease Palestine.  But apparently that wasn't enough.

One of these countries wants to live in the stone age and incite violence as radical Islam teaches, and one wants to be a flourishing democracy.  I can't believe people on this site are defending a country that is run by terrorists.  You need your heads examined.

The only facts you need are those from the sweet, wise lips of EA.  After all, he posted this article on the internet so its gotta be true.  Don't waste him time asking for proof or details.  It detracts from his emotions-based hyperbole.

No one reading this can disagree with the fact that if Palestinians and Hamas said "Give us peace and we will punish any who shoot rockets at you from our lands" and followed through on that for any time longer than 6 months, this situation would change right then and there.  Maybe it wouldnt be the perfect one, but it would be a better one and would change immediately.

By the way DJD just posted another sad tale....another 70 dead Palestinians found in a bombed  house... and a water shortage crisis that could create mass murder in Gaza over those numbers....but of course if we keep using the cynical process of useless rocket fire, few and far in between...missles....missles...missles...missles...

before you know it, the missles trick has succeeded in justifying a holocaust against Gaza civilians.  John Locke is not impressed with over 600 dead civilians in a population of just over 1.5 million.   That translates into 180,000 dead in the U.S in order for the West and Zionist ISRAEL to justify its colonial, apartheid state.

eric you are banking on everyone sharing your utopian views of "social and democratic states". Sorry, two-thirds of the world enjoys despotism and anarchy because there is power and control to be gained and selfish ambition to be catered to. Times will not change until people's hearts change and that is an internal process, hence the desire for spiritual goodness. Look honestly about you and see which religious based culture (as all really are) has done the best to raise up the equality of man and provide the best opportunities for quality of life for it's citizens.

You have made the mistake of asking a radical left winger to justify their claims and beliefs with a step by step solution.  They live in a world where they think if everyone just talks to each other and follows some "social standard" that world equality, no classes, and world peace will arise.  The fact is that there is no way to promulgate that following.  So, in the meantime it is up to people like me and you to find real solutions while recognizing the fact that evil actually exists in this world.

Gaza only exists in so much as Israel allows it to exist, and in return, Gaza fires rockets randomly at civilians.

Ma father once told me you do not bite the hand that feeds you, in this case, this is exactly what hamas is doing.

Hamas was organized with the help of agents provacatuers working hand in hand with the CIA and Mossad. Antagonists. Provacators.

Well ,unless your on mars...no carol...do your homework...or do I also have to do that for you....

The URL of this article is: http://globalresearch.ca/articles/ZER403A.html

Thanks to the Mossad, Israel's "Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks", the Hamas was allowed to reinforce its presence in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, Arafat's Fatah Movement for National Liberation as well as the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression and intimidation

Let us not forget that it was Israel, which in fact created Hamas. According to Zeev Sternell, historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, "Israel thought that it was a smart ploy to push the Islamists against the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO)".

                              http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/ZER403A.html

"In 1984, Ahmed Yassin was arrested and condemned to twelve years in prison, after the discovery of a hidden arms cache. But one year later, he was set free and resumed his activities. And when the Intifada (‘uprising’) began, in October 1987, which took the Islamists by surprise, Sheik Yassin responded by creating the Hamas (The Islamic Resistance Movement): "God is our beginning, the prophet our model, the Koran our constitution", proclaims article 7 of the charter of the organization."

The Hamas had built its strength through its various acts of sabotage of the peace process, in a way which was compatible with the interests of the Israeli government. In turn, the latter sought in a number of ways, to prevent the application of the Oslo accords. In other words, Hamas was fulfilling the functions for which it was originally created: to prevent the creation of a Palestinian State. And in this regard, Hamas and Ariel Sharon, see eye to eye; they are exactly on the same wave length

Analysis: Hamas history tied to Israel

"Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon immediately vowed to fight "Palestinian terror" and summoned his cabinet to decide on a military response to the organization that Sharon had once described as "the deadliest terrorist group that we have ever had to face."

Active in Gaza and the West Bank, Hamas wants to liberate all of Palestine and establish a radical Islamic state in place of Israel. It is has gained notoriety with its assassinations, car bombs and other acts of terrorism.

                              But Sharon left something out.

Israel and Hamas may currently be locked in deadly combat, but, according to several current and former U.S. intelligence officials, beginning in the late 1970s, Tel Aviv gave direct and indirect financial aid to Hamas over a period of years.

Israel "aided Hamas directly -- the Israelis wanted to use it as a counterbalance to the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization)," said Tony Cordesman, Middle East analyst for the Center for Strategic Studies.

Israel's support for Hamas "was a direct attempt to divide and dilute support for a strong, secular PLO by using a competing religious alternative," said a former senior CIA official."

Isabella that is just silly. Isreal occupied gaza for many years. international uproar at constant suicide bombers pressured israel to allow gaza to have self rule and self elections. Israel knew at the time that this area was only going to be used to stage attacks against israel which is exactly what is happening.

and would i sit there and take it. probably not. but would i set out to kill their civilian population? also probably not.

Israel supplies nearly everything to Gaza. The water, electricity, money for their government. in turn they get rockets. Seems to me that Gaza needs to learn to stand on its own if it wants to be independant.

That's the problem, Mike, they don't. They're systematically starving and depriving the people of Gaza of the basics of life, water, food, fuel, medical care.

Because hamas continuously is attacking them with rockets. If hamas was to spend that money on building the infrastructure instead of rockets and training bomb makers, they may be able to become more self sufficient. Also, the rest of the world is more likely to help when they see that you have real goals in mind and not just giving the peole barely enough to survive then blaming israel.

I am NOT a "Gazan"!  Why?  Because i dont believe in teaching my children to murder.  i dont worship a god who says kill all jews and christians. I dont reject peace and choose death and violence instead. The hysterical silliness of westerners who have CHRISTIAN cultural views of the value for life feeds the fire of Islamo-nazism.  The utter lack of value for logic and truth when evaluating what is going on shows the unwillingness of people to assign blame or even look honestly at cause and effect reveals the moral inadequacies of journalists and political bigmouths who insert their busybody meddling (Sarkoszy)where it does not good.  Israel needs to not let up on HAMAS and if the Palestinians really want peace EXPEL Hamas from their midst and sue for a peaceful approach to getting the homeland ISrael is willing to fork over to them if they'd only stop demanding the death and destruction of all jews and Israel.

Analysis: Hamas history tied to Israel

United Press International 06/18/02: Richard Sale

"In the end, as Hamas set up a very comprehensive counterintelligence system, many collaborators with Israel were weeded out and shot. Violent acts of terrorism became the central tenet, and Hamas, unlike the PLO, was unwilling to compromise in any way with Israel, refusing to acquiesce in its very existence.

But even then, some in Israel saw some benefits to be had in trying to continue to give Hamas support: "The thinking on the part of some of the right-wing Israeli establishment was that Hamas and the others, if they gained control, would refuse to have any part of the peace process and would torpedo any agreements put in place," said a U.S. government official who asked not to be named.

"Israel would still be the only democracy in the region for the United States to deal with," he said.

All of which disgusts some former U.S. intelligence officials.

"The thing wrong with so many Israeli operations is that they try to be too sexy," said former CIA official Vincent Cannestraro.

According to former State Department counter-terrorism official Larry Johnson, "the Israelis are their own worst enemies when it comes to fighting terrorism."

"The Israelis are like a guy who sets fire to his hair and then tries to put it out by hitting it with a hammer."

"They do more to incite and sustain terrorism than curb it," he said."

Instead of the usual intense and hate filled comments that seem to fill this discussion, how about some basic questions and answers to serve as data points - no matter which side you're on:

                                1) Gaza is run by a recognized terrorist organization - Hamas

                                2) Hamas has been very clear thru published and verbal statements that some of its goals as an organization is to destroy Israel and bring death to Jews - the exact words vary, but the message is clear.

                                3) Gaza refugees receive millions of dollars of aid from western countries and organizations.  This includes the US.

                                4) There is no limit placed on aid sent to Gaza refugees, yet the Arab world, even during the height of the Oil bonanza (last 12-18 months) has not raised its overall contribution to the refugees.  This has occured while entire cities have been built out of the desert in certain arab countries with parties that cost millions of dollars to put on, celebrating new buildings.

                                5) Israel is a sovereign state

                                6) A sovereign state has the right to defend itself from attack by other states and/or terrorist organizations.

                                7) The terrorist organization (in this case Hammas) attacking the sovereign state (in this case Israel) has a history of using women and children as human shields.  Also, the use of civilian homes to store terrorist weapons is common practice.

                                8) Use of human shields and storing weapons, as well as firing weapons next to civilian homes/buildings, puts the innocent women and children and their houses at risk of injury or death.

I could go on and on, but will stop there and see whether some of the points above help the discussion or whether we'll just continue to see hate filled posts about jews, muslims, etc...

open to your comments on which piece of what i wrote is a "lie lie lie"?

and please do not respond with something like "all of it" as that just kills any sort of decent discussion...

truth.............take the time to read the thread, you bring up the same @!$%# that has been answered.  you drag the conversation backwards and your questions are already posted in other comments ...................or is that your intention?
